Actions to take in support of the Wet’suwet’en (as of November 2020
- Explore why you want to be an ally of the Wet’suwet’en and/or other Indigenous groups. Review the Ally Bill of Responsibilities by Dr. Lynn Gehl, Algonquin Anishaabe-kew and reflect on your motivation and actions. Learn more HERE
- Donate to the RAVEN Trust fund in support of the Wet’suwet’en legal actions. Learn more HERE RAVEN … “is a non-profit charitable organization that provides financial resources to assist Indigenous Nations in lawfully forcing industrial development to be reconciled with their traditional ways of life, and in a manner that addresses global warming or other ecological sustainability challenges.”

- Take every opportunity to continue learning about the history and present reality for the Wet’suwet’en by reading articles and watching videos/webinars on the North Bay and Area Indigenous Solidarity Team website or Unist’ot’en websites.
- Write letters to express your concerns to your Federal MP; PM Trudeau; Crown- Indigenous Relations Minister Carolyn Bennett; Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller, and to BC Premier John Horgan and Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation Scott Fraser. Find contact information HERE
- Take part in Action Alerts or other solidarity actions, as is possible during the Covid-19 pandemic. When you subscribe to the Unistoten website, you will receive Action Alerts. Subscribe HERE
- Organize a solidarity team (even if you are only two or three persons) so you can continue to energize one another on the ‘long road’ towards justice. If you can’t meet in person ‘at a distance’ try meeting by Zoom.
- Give thanks for the inspiration and perseverance of the Wet’suwet’en, and pray for conversion of heart, mind and will of those in colonial government and judicial roles, as we seek systemic change and justice to honour Indigenous rights and title, the land and future generations.
